FAQ
Why wallpaper?
Q : Single application to suit any mood, taste and need.
Wallpaper (Wallcovering) brings colorful, strong texture coupled with changing patterns and flowers matching that can improve the effect of wall decoration. Wallpaper (Wallcovering) is the only ornament in a single application that offers many colours, designs and coverages to suit any mood, taste and need. Wallpaper (Wallcovering) is an excellent quick-fix solution to refurbish homes that are on sale & adds value to the selling price.
Q : Saves money over time
The initial investment of wallpaper (wallcovering) is higher than paint, but choosing vinyl wallpaper (wallcovering) over paint can result in a saving of 30% or more over time finally. Product lifecycle analysis has shown that wallpapers (wallcoverings) can last at least 5 times longer than paint under normal usage conditions. Wallpapers (Wallcoverings) generally have a life span of between 10 to 15 years if regular maintenance is done. Most of the vinyl wallcovering can maintain its original beauty and performance characteristics of at least 15 years, whereas a painted surface must be cleaned more frequently to maintain its appearance and generally requires repainting approximately every 3 years. Over time, wallpapers (wallcoverings) are a wise economical choice.
Q : Less time-consuming
Wallpaper (wallcovering) is less time-consuming. It is often quicker than painting. You need only one layer of wallpaper to give a colour and design to the wall.
Q : Easy to maintenance
Wallpaper is far easier to clean up when compared to paint as well. Generally speaking, you can wipe up any marks or stains from a wallpaper's vinyl surface by using sponge, soap and warm water. While the same can be said of modern painted surfaces, this leaves many shiny or dull spots where marks or stains used to be on a painted surface. If the wall is cracked, uneven, or not exactly at a right angle with the floor, wallpapers can help disguise imperfections that paint may exaggerate.
Q : Wallpaper is easy to peel off ?
No, the common cause is the use of the wrong adhesive of poor quality. The wallpaper peels off due to the aging of the glue, and the wallpaper will not have any damage under normal circumstances. Perfectly installed with high quality wallpaper adhesive, the life of wallpaper (wallpaper) is usually between 10 and 15 years with regular maintenance. The second cause is water leaks, most of which occur in walls near windows or bathrooms. All finishing materials on the wall may begin to blister or peel, including plywood and metal panels, and repair is the only way to restore the wall.
Why Carpet?
Q : Provides warmth and comfort
Carpet provides thermal resistance, or R-value. In colder climates or seasons, it retains warm air longer, an energy conservation benefit. Carpet provides a comfortable environment in which to work and gives a space an overall warmer feeling.
Q : Adds beauty and style
You can choose from many thousands of carpet styles and colors. That means your ultimate choice will reflect how you want to personalize your living space. Carpet can be a neutral foundation, or it can be a focal point with vibrant colors and stronger bolder patterns and textures.
Q : Softens slips and falls
Carpet is ideal for cushioning our footsteps, reducing slips and falls and minimizing injuries when falls do occur. Carpet provides safety protection for the whole family, but especially for toddlers and older individuals.
Q : Reduces noise
Big screen TVs, speaker phones, computers and modern sound systems make our homes noisy places. Carpet helps absorb these sounds. Adding a cushion pad beneath your carpet reduces noise even further. Carpet also works as a sound barrier between floors by helping to block sound transmission to rooms below. And carpet on stairs helps mask the sound of constant foot traffic.
Q : Improves indoor air quality
Carpet helps improve IAQ by trapping allergens and other particles so they can be vacuumed away. Plus, carpet is the lowest VOC emitter of common floor choices, and requires fewer cleaning chemicals than other floor coverings.
Q : Easy to maintenance
88% of the interior stains are caused by the liquid. Wool’s compactness provides a natural protective layer. Liquid will form into bead on the surface before absorbed by wool. Therefore, we have sufficient time to maintain the hygiene of the wool carpet before the water droplets become stains.
Q : Saves money over time
The sum of the initial cost of carpet, plus the maintenance costs over the total time of the life of the carpet, is usually less than hard surface flooring. Plus, cleaning carpet is less labor intensive. A survey of commerical buildings that had maintenance programs for hard surfaces and carpet demonstrated that carpet cost less to maintain. The study found that hard surface floors require two and one-half times more cleaning time than carpet, and cleaning supplies were about seven times more expensive for vinyl floors than for carpeted floors. While upfront purchase and installation costs are more expensive for carpet than hard flooring, carpet expenditures prove to be more cost-effective over the full life cycle of the product.
STONESLICE Natural Stone Veneer
Q : What is StoneSlice?
StoneSlice is a sheet of real slate stone that, through unique and proprietary technology, we are able to cut into very thin and flexible sheets.
Q : What colors are StoneSlice sheets available in?
We currently have 27 different colors and textures available on a regular basis. Due to the fact that StoneSlice is derived from real stone each sheet, even if within the same color group, will exhibit its own unique coloring and texturing. Due to the limitations of viewing on a web browser the colors shown on your monitor may not match the actual color of the StoneSlice sheet. Please ask for an actual color sample before making your decision.
Q : What sizes are StoneSlice sheets available in?
StoneSlice sheets are available in a wide variety of sizes, the largest currently being 240cm x 90cm. Our standard size sheet, due to the limitations of the process is approximately 1580mm x 720mm, 1210mm x 610mm & 1220mm x 610mm (4' x 2') depend on stones. Each sheet has a thickness between 1-3mm.
Q : What is the difference between StoneSlice and a slab of slate stone?
The main difference lies in the weight. Each standard sheet of StoneSlice weighs approximately 1.6 kilos even though it has a surface area of approximately 1.14 square meters. Therefore, it can be even used as a cladding on non-structural walls, wooden doors, on ceilings etc. Additionally, StoneSlice can be bent to clad curved surfaces as well.
Q : Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, StoneSlice can be used outdoors as it is a real stone surface and so is resistant to sun, UV, and water. We do recommend using STONESLICE waterproof adhesive.
Q : How is STONESLICE installed?
Apply normal adhesives to the sheeting when applying to surfaces. Ensure all normal application protocols of a product of this type are followed. We do recommend STONESLICE water-proof polyurethane (PU) adhesives and have found marine and construction epoxies to be particularly effective. As with any slate product, to bring out the best in StoneSlice we recommend that the product be sealed using normal stone-sealing polyurethane sealants. Acetones and harsh industrial chemicals may affect the product.
Q : How can it be cut?
StoneSlice is very easily cut to the shapes and sizes you desire for your job. We recommend using a circular wet saw although metal shears will also work where more detail is required in the cut. Note: As always we recommend proper safety procedures be observed when cutting any material. Please use protective clothing, masks and eye wear.
Q : How long will StoneSlice last?
We can guarantee StoneSlice for a minimum of 10 years but because it is a real stone we have every reason to believe that it will last a lifetime.
